4 Effective Tips on How to Grow a Beard If You Can’t
What do you need to have and do to grow a full, healthy, and soft beard?
Well…
Understand the Basics of Beard Growth
Yes – you need to first understand how it all works.
Earlier, I mentioned that growth has a lot to do with genetics and DNA makeup.
But:
To be more specific, growth is determined by hormones – testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Genetics determines the amount of these hormones you have.
Basically, the more DHT you have in your body, the higher your chances of growing facial hair quickly and successfully; even at the age of 16.
Note:
The indifference in the amount of DHT in our bodies explains why some men grow beards faster and easier than others.
So, if you are wondering; why can’t I grow a beard?
It’s probably because you have low levels of DHT in your body.
Patience Pays
How many days does it take to grow a full beard?
Well:
There’s no straight answer to that question because it could be weeks, months, or even years.
Hence, don’t stress yourself trying to figure out how much time it takes to grow a beard.
It takes a lot of patience (and care) to grow a great beard.
Note:
Growing a beard is never easy – especially for newbies.
Sometimes, it will get itchy or grow unevenly/patchy, but that won’t be a big issue for anyone determined to grow cool-looking facial hair.
The only thing you can do is wait and give it room to grow.
Don’t Neglect the Skin Below
The skin underneath your beard is just as important.
Most of us tend to forget the skin underneath as soon as the beard grows bigger.
Out of sight, out of mind, right?
Well, that shouldn’t be the case…
The healthier the skin underneath, the easier it will be for you to grow a healthy beard.
Therefore, scrub it using a facial scrub when the beard is still short and then use your fingers when the beard grows longer.
Some argan or coconut oil – applied overnight – goes a long way towards softening your skin, eventually, making it less itchy and comfortable.
Beard Maintenance is Key
Obviously, you can’t grow a killer beard without maintaining it.
You’ll have to do some things in order to keep your beard soft, itch-free and looking stunning.
For example:
- Combing It Regularly – A beard comb is all you need to evenly spread your beard. It also makes it easy for you to get a fuller appearance.
- Use Conditioning Stylers – That comprises of creams, balms, and beard oils. They are essential for the health and softness of your beard.
- Know When to Trim Your Beard – Trimming is also an essential part of growing a beard stages. The timing has to be right. Wait until your whiskers are long enough to trim. It depends on how long you want your beard to be. Occasional snips on the sides will help you to shape your beard.
And that’s just about everything you need to know about how to grow a beard at 18.
Is it easy? Yes-No-Maybe!
It all depends on how determined you are to learn how to grow a beard at 17, implement it and maintain your new beard.
But remember, your genetics and hormonal balance will greatly influence how easy or hard it will be for you to grow a classy, soft, and healthy beard.
